Welcome to the New Mrs Buttons Designs Website! Willkommen zur neuen Mrs Buttons Designs Webseite! After several years with Wordpress I was getting increasingly frustrated with the limited editing options in the free plan, so I have decided to dare the jump to Weebly where I can have much more fun really designing the look of my pages. The site is not yet quite complete, but soon will be! It's been a summer of personal challenges and, I must admit it, I was very put off engaging with any social media after the rather hostile exchange between various minority knitting groups on Ravelry and Instagram. I don't like such hatred and accusatory exchanges, especially when we all have one such lovely thing in common: The Love of Knitting! After I managed to get into the cross-fire for trying to soothe tempers and emphasising our commonalities I just wanted to withdraw as I don't like exposing myself to totally unnecessary hate speech. Hopefully, all this has blown over now and like a tortoise or hedgehog I will try and unravel myself from my protective shell and participate again. And just to make it absolutely clear: At Mrs Buttons Designs people from all minorities and majorities are welcome - and we all deserve respect - and fun and friendship! There is no discrimination at Mrs Buttons Designs! So, what has been happening knit-wise over the summer? Well, I have got myself stuck in a rather major and extremely time-consuming project: A pair of double-knitted fair-isle sweaters which are really a wedding present for my lovely godson and his wife. Yes, the wedding happened in August and it was a most splendid and spectacular. Many congratulations to the happy couple! Well, I am still at the start of the second sweater. It is taking a lot longer than I had anticipated; partially because of using 8 colours at the same time, initial difficulties and making mistakes which are so hard to spot in double-knitting until one has progressed several rows further and then unravelling back is so very time-consuming and fiddly, too. Anyway, here are some pictures from my project page. The other project, which is a little bit more portable: The Flutterby Shawl. It is a triangular lace shawl with butterfly motifs using a range of pink colour-graded 4-ply cotton. Again, not finished yet, but hopefully it soon will be, because I have some super designs coming up; for example a project called Avantcardi! Must get going and keep knitting! Until very soon! And Happy Knitting! Also, ich muss jetzt wieder ans Stricken! Bis auf bald! Und Frohes Stricken!
